Dundurn Press is delighted to announce the expansion of its acquisitions team.
Megan Beadle is taking on the role of acquisitions editor, focusing on literary fiction for the Dundurn Press imprint, historical and upmarket fiction, mystery, and literary non-fiction, including memoir. She will also continue in her role as Bookshop Manager at the Press’s Queen Street East location. Her recent acquisitions include The Road To Heaven by 2023 CrimeWriters’ of Canada award-winning author Alexis Stefanovich-Thomson.
In the recently created post of publishing assistant, Julia Kim supports the acquisitions team and acquires both non-fiction and literary fiction with a priority to support equity seeking authors and creators. Her recent acquisitions in partnership with President and Publisher Kwame Fraser include Traitor by Default: The Trials of Kanao Inouye, the Kamloops Kid by Patrick Brode and Celestina’s House by Clarissa Gonzalez.
Beadle and Kim join the acquisitions team of Kwame Fraser, Kathryn Lane, Russell Smith, and Meghan Macdonald.
Kwame Scott Fraser primarily acquires non-fiction in the areas of history, biography, politics, current affairs, true crime, and sports as well as literary and genre fiction by Black and/or Caribbean diaspora writers.
Kathryn Lane acquires non-fiction across a broad range of subjects indicative of the Dundurn Press list, including local interest, history, business, and politics. She is particularly interested in city and community development, history and heritage (across the GTHA and beyond), personal finance, and true crime.
Russell Smith acquires literary fiction for the Rare Machines imprint, and journalistic (i.e., researched) non-fiction on any subject for Dundurn Press.
Meghan MacDonald acquires non-fiction in the areas of history, sports, current events, and public policy. She is looking for proposals and manuscripts that balance readability, narrative drive, and intellectualism.
