Winners were announced for the 2009 Heritage Toronto Book Awards Oct. 13th. Unbuilt Toronto and Toronto both won an Award of Merit. Congratulations to both Mark Osbaldeston and Mike Filey!

Mark Osbaldeston

Mark Osbaldeston has written and spoken extensively on Toronto's architectural and planning history. His first book, Unbuilt Toronto: A History of the City That Might Have Been, was the subject of an exhibition at the Royal Ontario Museum, was a finalist for the Toronto Book Awards, and received a Heritage Toronto Award of Merit. He lives in Toronto.

Mike Filey

Mike Filey was born in Toronto in 1941. He has written more than two dozen books on various facets of Toronto's past and for more than thirty-five years has contributed a popular column, "The Way We Were," to the Toronto Sunday Sun. His Toronto Sketches series is more popular now than ever before.
