Dundurn, the castle in Hamilton, is haunted. Dundurn, the publisher in Toronto, is not.

There isn’t a relationship between the Dundurns other than Google search clicks, and more importantly, that Dundurn Press published Mark Leslie’s book, Haunted Hamilton, with a chapter, my favourite chapter, dedicated to the spooky Dundurn Castle.

Lots of people died in Dundurn Castle. They died by accident, by consumption or without any money and those dead people, according to Leslie’s research, have been reported to sing, blow out candles and attend weddings at the most inopportune times. You’ll find that each chapter is like that, full of the kind of detailed personal accounts that make Hamilton landmarks like Bellevue Mansion, Battlefield House Museum, Auchnar House, Whitehern Mansion and Dundas District Elementary School and many others alive with haunted history!
