The Golden Eagle Book Award is a literary award that is given annually to an Alberta writer whose book is selected by children in grades four through eight from schools in the southern Alberta communities of Claresholm, Nanton, Stavely, Granum, the Daly Creek Colony, Pincher Creek, Blairmore and Lundbreck,” (http://www.goldeneaglebookaward.com/)

The winner of the award is actually chosen by student judges. The judges have to read a minimum of 5 of the nominated novels and then vote for their favourite.

This year the Runner Up is Dundurn’s own Rob Feagan author of Arctic Thunder.
