Effective September 1st, Dundurn Press will be transferring its U.K. sales and distribution to Ingram Publisher Services, which already manages Dundurn’s distribution in the United States. The change marks the end of the Toronto-based publisher’s 11-year relationship with Gazelle Book Services.

“There are several reasons for the shift,” says Margaret Bryant, Dundurn’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “The most salient, without doubt, is that with Ingram we now have the opportunity to move to an inventory-free arrangement that relies exclusively on print-on-demand.”

According to Bryant, the move will nearly eliminate overseas shipping costs, result in faster availability of new titles for European readers, and help reduce the company’s overall environmental footprint.

Bryant hopes the transition will strengthen Dundurn’s longstanding relationship with Ingram. “Ingram continues to be a reliable and forward-thinking business partner in an ever-evolving industry. We’re eager to begin work with their team in Milton Keynes this fall.”

Dundurn continues to distribute domestically through UTP Distribution. They thank Gazelle for their professionalism and stellar customer service through the years.

Dundurn Press was founded in 1972 by Kirk Howard. At first a small publisher of Canadian and military history, the company expanded, and now releases more than one hundred books a year. The press’s publishing program includes award-winning adult and YA fiction, mysteries, biographies, business, and current affairs titles. In 2010, the company was awarded the inaugural Wilson History Prize for Publishing Canadian History by the Wilson Institute at McMaster University. In 2012, when the company marked its 40th anniversary, Dundurn received its first Libris Award nomination for Publisher of the Year, followed by a second nomination in May, 2014.
