British Child Migration to Canada

Marjorie Too Afraid to Cry tells of Marjorie and her brothers’ 1937 journey to Canada and includes my mother and my return to England in 2010 to be present at the then Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s formal apology to all British child migrants. Gordon Brown has provided a Foreword for both my books.

Marjorie Her War Years - covers Marjorie’s five years at the farm school on Vancouver Island - and ends in 1942 when she turned sixteen, and was placed out as a domestic servant in a private home in Victoria.

I have a 15-20 minute slideshow, which gives an overview of the history of British Child Migration to Canada - especially as it pertains to BC. It includes photos of Marjorie at the Prince of Wales Fairbridge Farm School and at the Fintry Farm on the west shore of Okanagan Lake
