Overview

History Makers profiles the 100 people, including famous Canadians, whose legacies burn brightest in the history of the last century – from the greatest scientists to the boldest political leaders and intellectuals – and ranks them in order of their influence. Entries are categorized in one of five fields: Politics and leadership; Science and technology; Popular culture and the arts; Business and commerce; and Writers and thinkers.

The famous Canadians featured in the book include Glenn Gould, Alexander Graham Bell, Wayne Gretzky, Lester B. Pearson, Dr. Fredrick Banting, Leonard Cohen, Pierre Trudeau, David Suzuki, and more.

Ian Whitelaw and Julie Whitaker are English-born authors and editors now living with their two children on Vancouver Island, Canada, where they divide their time between writing and looking after the horses and alpacas on their small farm. They are both Anthropology graduates of Durham University, England, and have worked on a wide range of book projects.
