The Grey Zone

The thirteenth Jack Taggart Mystery pits Jack against a group of ruthless kidnappers.

To assist MCU, Taggart identifies one of the kidnappers and goes undercover, portraying himself as a criminal who is owed money, in an elaborate sting to lure the rest of the gang into a trap. He is with the kidnappers on the day the trap is to be sprung, but discovers they’ve already kidnapped another victim and he and the victim are to be murdered so that the police will pin the kidnapping on him.

Taggart comes up with a risky plan for their survival.

If it feels real, it’s a Don Easton story.… This is fictional crime writing at its best.

Bay Observer, for Subverting Justice

Easton, a former undercover cop with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, fills the Taggart books the kind of precise, accurate detail that gives the series a kind of authenticity rare in crime fiction.
