Toronto, ON – Dundurn Press Ltd. and the Canadian International Council (CIC) are thrilled to announce the launch of The Hon. Henry N.R. Jackman Series on Canada and the World, a new series aimed at expanding the conversation on Canada’s role in the global arena.

The first three titles in the series include:

  • Pursuing a Public Life: How to Succeed in the Political Arena by the Hon. Sergio Marchi
  • The Crisis of Liberalism: The Origin and Destiny of Freedom by Michael Bonner
  • From Middle Power to Consequential Country by Robert Greenhill

These are the first projects in a joint effort between Dundurn and the CIC to elevate the geopolitical conversation and for Canada to share our skills and perspective with the world.

It is more vital than ever to engage in discussions surrounding Canada's international position and to offer individuals and organizations insightful pathways for growth, learning, and the sharing of perspectives. Through these thought-provoking works, we aim to foster meaningful conversations that can inspire change and help shape a better future for all.

About the Jackman Series Authors

The Hon. Sergio Marchi is a distinguished former Canadian ambassador to the World Trade Organization. His experiences in the political arena underscore the value and personal fulfillment that can come from a career dedicated to public service and international diplomacy. In Pursuing a Public Life, Marchi offers practical guidance and personal reflections, demonstrating how to succeed over the long-term in often challenging political landscapes.

Michael Bonner, a renowned scholar, takes a deep dive into the state of modern liberalism in The Crisis of Liberalism: The Origin and Destiny of Freedom. This book explores the philosophical and political challenges that liberalism faces today, asking vital questions about the future of individual freedom and democracy in a rapidly changing world.

Robert Greenhill, a respected expert in international affairs, shifts the conversation in From Middle Power to Consequential Country, examining how Canada can move from its traditional role as a middle power to becoming a more consequential player in the global landscape. Greenhill’s insights provide a roadmap for policymakers and citizens alike to understand and embrace Canada’s potential on the world stage.
