Two Dundurn Press Nominations for the Saskatchewan Young Readers' Choice Award

Dundurn Press is excited to announce that two of our titles are on the Saskatchewan Young Readers’ Choice Awards! Gina McMurchy-Barber’s middle grade novel, The Jigsaw Puzzle King, has been nominated for the Diamond Willow Award, and Collen Nelson’s YA novel, Spin, has been shortlisted for the Snow Willow Award.. Congratulations Gina and Colleen!

Praised by Lost Boy author Shelley Hrdlitschka as “a beautiful, engaging story about loving people exactly the way they are,” The Jigsaw Puzzle King sensitively tells the tale of eleven-year-old Warren who is flip-flopping between trying to fit in at a new school and being the protective brother of Bennie, who has Down syndrome.

Praised by Quill & Quire as a “fast-paced, emotionally charged read, with just the right amount of behind-the-music melodrama”, Spin explores themes of family tension, abandonment, and fame as an aspiring teenage DJ learns to navigate life when her mother’s identity as a famous singer is revealed to the world.

The 2021 Willow Awards winners will be announced in May 2022 at their annual Gala. Learn more about the SYRCA Willow Awards here.
