Submissions

Thank you for your interest in Dundurn. If you wish to submit a manuscript for our consideration, we ask that you first ensure that your book is a good fit with our publishing program. Please browse our website, including the company history, to learn more about the kinds of books we publish.

Your submission package must include the following:
• A cover letter.
• A one-page (250-word) synopsis of the contents of your book. For non-fiction, please include a table of contents also.
• A resume or CV that includes an outline of your past publishing experience.
• A marketing plan for your book.
• At least three sample chapters of your book, formatted with Times New Roman font (or a comparable font), 12-point type, double-spacing, and standard margins (1"-1.5"). For fiction, please submit the first three chapters. Please DO NOT send complete manuscripts unless personally requested by a member of Dundurn’s editorial staff.
• A word count for the complete manuscript.

Important Notes:
• We DO NOT accept submissions by fax, email, or on disc. Electronic submissions will receive no response.
• We DO NOT publish children's books for readers under seven years of age. This includes picture books.
• Please do not send us the only copy of the work.
• Please do not send original artwork with your manuscript. It is not necessary for art to be created in advance of a manuscript being accepted for publication.
Due to the high volume of submissions that we receive, we will only respond to those that are of interest for possible publication. Therefore, a self-addressed, stamped envelope is unnecessary — all materials will simply be recycled. If you have not heard from us within six months of submitting your manuscript, you can assume that it is not right for Dundurn.
• We do our best to keep up with submissions, but your patience is appreciated in the case of delays. Please DO NOT telephone Dundurn to inquire about the status of your submission.
• Editorial comment and/or feedback will not be provided unless Dundurn decides to pursue your project further.
• Dundurn DOES NOT currently accept unsolicited manuscripts from authors outside of Canada.
• Multiple submissions are accepted.

The package should be addressed to:

Acquisitions Editor

It is important that you address your submission to "Acquisitions Editor" so that it will be promptly logged into our system, allowing us to track its progress. It will then be passed on to the appropriate person for consideration.

WE REGRET THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE STATUS OF YOUR MANUSCRIPT BY PHONE, MAIL, OR EMAIL.
