Underground Railroad Free Press Prizewinners: Bryan and Shannon Prince
Congratulations to Bryan and Shannon Prince, the Underground Railroad Free Press recently announced that they are the 2011 winners of the Hortense Simmons Advancement
of Knowledge Prize for career-long work revealing and promoting Canada's rich Underground Railroad history.
Bryan Prince is a much-respected historical researcher with a particular interest in the Underground Railroad, slavery, and abolition. The author of two bestselling books, I Came as a Stranger and A Shadow on the Household, he is much in demand as a presenter throughout Canada and the United States. Dundurn is honoured to be publishing Bryan's forthcoming book One More River to Cross, in 2012. This book will document the riveting story of early 19th century escapee Isaac Brown and his escape from New Orleans to Philadelphia in the free state of Pennsylvania.
