Paul Carroll Wins The SOS Marine Heritage Award
Paul Carroll, author of The Wexford and Four Years on the Great Lakes, 1813-1816, has been awarded the SOS Marine Heritage Award.
This award, presented by Save Ontario Shipwrecks, honours people who help to preserve, study, and promote Ontario's marine heritage.
Both of Carroll's books do just that. The Wexford follows the story of the long-lost lake ship of the same name from her first voyage to her final resting place. And Four Years on the Great Lakes, 1813-1816 is a unique account of Canadian history during the War of 1812 told through the filter of Lieutenant David Wingfield, Royal Navy.
Carroll has long been involved in marine heritage -- from his "wharf rat" youth to his Waterfront Development Plan for the long-term evolution of the Goderich shoreline.
