It is with sadness that Dundurn announces the passing of one of its best-loved authors, Lou Allin. Born in Toronto in 1945, Lou grew up in the United States, returning home to Canada later in life to teach and write. The author of short stories, novellas, and novels, she is best known for the Belle Palmer mystery series, which includes the novels Northern Winters Are Murder, Blackflies Are Murder, and Murder, Eh?; and the critically acclaimed Holly Martin series, comprising the novels And on the Surface Die, She Felt No Pain, and, most recently, Twilight is Not Good for Maidens.

Lou will be missed by all who knew and worked with her. We celebrate her not only for her considerable  talent and significant contribution to Canadian crime writing, but also for being a great friend to Dundurn for many years.
