Have you ever walked into a room and felt the hair on the back of your neck stand up? Have you ever felt presences or seen something that you really can’t explain? Have you ever seen a ghost? Dorah Williams is the author of Haunted and the new release Haunted Too – books that talk about just these things. Read what Dorah has to say about her new book and the experiences that she had in order to write it.

Caitlyn: Tell us about your book.

Dorah: My newest book, “Haunted Too”,  is  the result of the feedback I received for my first book, “Haunted” which was the true story of my family’s amazing experiences  living in a haunted home. Readers from  across North America and the U.K., of all ages and backgrounds, sent me emails through my website about their own ghostly encounters.  I was also repeatedly asked about the cause of hauntings and how to deal with them.

As I read of others’ paranormal experiences, and received so many  requests  for help with their hauntings,  “Haunted Too” came to be.   I have always been intrigued by a good ghost story, so wanted to include as many of those submissions  as possible, but  I also empathized with  the apprehension a haunting can cause, and knew that paranormal professionals’ advice and opinions would be very helpful  to address those  concerns.  So, I contacted  paranormal  investigators and physic mediums from across Canada, the  U.S.A. and the U.K. and asked them to share their knowledge and experiences in this book too.  Their ghostly encounters are entertaining, but their words of wisdom also help to better understand this phenomenon, and are very enlightening for anyone who has had an experience such as this, or is just interested in this topic.

Caitlyn: How did you come up with the title?

Dorah: “Haunted Too” is a follow up to “Haunted”. But, instead of using the numeral two,  to show this sequence  in the title, I thought it would be more appropriate to express it as a play on words, to show the book is a collection of other people’s experiences relating to my first book.

Caitlyn: Tell us a little about the overarching theme of your work, and why you felt compelled to explore it.

Dorah: The overarching theme of “Haunted Too” is that hauntings are universal, and something we can all relate to, or learn from,  as these spiritual encounters are shared.  We all know that our physical lives are finite.  An open mind, exploring this topic, allows for the possibility of considering there is continued existence beyond this plane.  My own haunting experiences strongly concluded  that for me personally, and hearing  others’ accounts  reinforces that  even further.  The  dozens of ghost stories,  directly told as first hand accounts by those who experienced them, range from frightening  to poignant, but are all thought provoking. I feel compelled to continue exploring this topic because I find it so intriguing, and there is still so much that needs to be learned.

Caitlyn: Did you have a specific readership in mind when you wrote your book?

Dorah: The paranormal seems to be a topic of interest in all ages groups, walks of life, and cultures,  so the span of the readership of this genre is very great.  The same people who are intrigued by true ghost stories and wanted to read “Haunted” will also want to read “Haunted Too”.  Anyone who enjoys reading about things that go bump in the night will get a good collection of those stories, and will also get interesting insights into hauntings as they are discussed  by the professionals who work in this field.

Caitlyn: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received as a writer?

Dorah: The best advice I ever received was “write about what you know”. That made a lot of sense to me when I started writing in this genre, because it is something I find so fascinating based on my own experiences.  I know what it’s like to live in a haunted house.  I know what it’s like to see a full body apparition, and to have apports suddenly appear out of thin air right before my eyes.  I can accurately describe paranormal phenomena because, after my experiences, they have remained with me, as  flashbulb memories,  making it very easy to vividly recall and explain exactly what I saw and felt.

Dorah L. Williams is the author of Haunted, which is based on her own personal account. She lives in a small Canadian town.
