MAUREEN JENNINGS

Maureen Jennings was born in England and immigrated to Canada as a teenager, where she earned a BA in philosophy and pscyhology from the University of Windsor and an MA in English literature from the University of Toronto. Maureen taught English at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute for eight years, leaving to become a psychotherapist, which she continues to do in private practice. She is the author of The Murdoch Mysteries, a historical mystery series set in Victorian Toronto. The first book, Except the Dying(1997), won the Certificate of Commendation from Heritage Toronto. CHUM Television has ordered the creation of an exciting new 13-episode series, The Murdoch Mysteries based on the novels Except the Dying, Under the Dragon's Tail, Poor Tom Is Cold, Let Loose the Child, Night's Child, and Vices of My Blood. Maureen lives in Toronto with her husband and two dogs, Jeremy-Brett and Varley.
