Selected Writings
By Duncan Campbell Scott; Introduction by Michael Gnarowski
Controversy has swirled in recent times around the career of Duncan Campbell Scott: poet, fiction writer, and long-serving bureaucrat with the Department of Indian Affairs, where he had a hand in policies unfavourable to Canada's Native people, including assimilation. Despite this controversial legacy, Scott's accomplishments as a writer contributed greatly to the development of Canadian literature. Scott was a prominent member of Ottawa's intellectual elite in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as well as a respected pianist.
