Welcome to TAP Books

Welcome to TAP Books, an independent publisher of the highest-calibre Canadian books. We are home to a small, prestigious list of outstanding literary fiction and non-fiction.

Thomas Allen Publishers was founded in 2000 and has published a list of award-winning and bestselling books including Austin Clarke’s The Polished Hoe, Tom Harpur’s The Pagan Christ, Robin Esrock’s The Great Canadian Bucket List, Ted Barris’s The Great Escape, Brian Fawcett’s Virtual Clear Cut, and Charlotte Gill’s Eating Dirt.

On August 1, 2013, Dundurn Press, Canada’s largest independent publisher, purchased Thomas Allen Publishers. Kirk Howard, Dundurn’s president, made a commitment to carry on Thomas Allen’s publishing program as TAP Books. Since then, the legacy of Thomas Allen has grown, with the publication of such groundbreaking new books as Anna Porter’s Buying a Better World: George Soros and Billionaire Philanthropy, Pamela Mordecai’s Red Jacket, and Elle Wild’s Strange Things Done.

Our books are sold and distributed by Dundurn.
